Crash Diets

Everyone wants a healthier body. A lot of people are experiencing weight problems due to poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyles. To lose weight, more and more people are relying on different diet and exercise plans that guarantee fast weight loss. Most people who want to lose weight fast go on crash diets. A crash diet is an extreme diet plan that involves limiting one’s calorie intake. Crash diets are not meant to be practiced for long periods as the body’s metabolic rate is also affected by the change in eating habits. The slow down in our body’s use of energy means that crash diets will be ineffective. However, there are crash diets that are effective and aimed at making the body use up and burn stored fats.

Crash diet plans lasting seven days usually involve a strict menu consisting mostly of vegetables and fruits. Food intake will be limited to healthy foods that are also cooked healthily. The menu is well-thought of and still provides the body with the vitamins and minerals it needs. Aside from providing nutrition, the menu consists of fat-burning food.

The following is an example of such a crash diet plan: the Oatmeal and two kinds of fruit for breakfast, banana and almond butter for snack, a healthy salad for lunch; an apple for afternoon snack; and fish dish and healthy side dish and dessert for dinner. For liquids, water and unsweetened beverage are recommended. Pure and unsweetened fruit juices may also be taken in. A similar menu is recommended for day two. On day three, only half a serving of fruit may be taken in with a cereal dish for breakfast and a salad for lunch. For snacks and dinner, a menu similar to days one and two may be consumed. For days four to seven, morning and afternoon snacks would only consist of healthy fruit juice. It maybe noticed that the serving of food that is taken in is gradually lessened.

There are many variations to the crash diet above. There are crash diet plans that are more drastic, consisting only of liquids and pureed fruits and vegetables on certain days. This crash diet plan, also called detox diet, is very popular with celebrities. A typical crash diet plan promises weight loss from five to seven pounds in a week.

An important thing to remember after a seven-day crash diet plan is not to go back to the usual diet immediately. There should also be a gradual change in the diet otherwise the body will react to the change in diet adversely.

If there are important events one has to attend wherein one wants to look good, one may follow a dedicated crash diet plan. When choosing a crash diet plan, look for one that is healthy. Also, be disciplined and committed to the crash diet plan to get desired results.
